Lyla Nicole has arrived!

Lyla Nicole joined us on December 13th at 1:14pm. For those of us number geeks, it is pretty fun that she was born on 12-13 at 13:14 :) Jeff and I went in to the hospital the night before and I was put on some antibiotics during the night. My doctor came by at a little after 8am Monday morning, broke my water, and I was in active labor in no time. Everything was progressing nicely but she hadn't dropped enough so the nurse suggested I walk around some more...well, I took about 3 steps to the sink and that's about all I needed. I told (maybe yelled) that they should check me and when they did, they said I was "at a 4", meaning that she was just about out of me! They called my doctor, she ran over from her office and I only pushed for 9 minutes before we met our little angel! She was 5 lbs 9 oz, 19 inches long and absolutely beautiful! Bright blue eyes looking at me just minutes after being born!

Gingerbread house & toddler bed

So...what to do when you are having contractions every 10-20 minutes and can't sleep? Update the blog! Here is Haley with the gingerbread house she helped make with my mom & me. I can't say that all of the candies made it onto the house and not in her mouth, but it turned out quite nicely! :) Here is Haley in her big girl bed. This picture is already outdated though because her Daddy, the best husband a girl could ask for, painted her room yesterday! Now two of the walls are an adorable pale pink and it looks so good with her white furniture!

38 weeks

Well, I'm 38 weeks along today and apparently 3AM is when the sleeping stops and heartburn & insomnia begin :( My checkup yesterday went well and the doctor said I was still "on track". I've been seeing a chiropractor and she thinks I've dropped pretty low and could go into labor at any time (especially since my OB will be out of town this weekend). My chiro claims that being adjusted at this stage pretty much guarantees a very short time of pushing - she comes with a good track record & if it works for me, I will be sending out my recommendations! If nothing else, I feel better and haven't had a headache in over a month which is unheard of for pregnant Christy! Ok, going to try heading back to bed...wish me luck!

November 2010

Juliana and Amy threw me a "Baby Sprinkle" instead of a baby shower last weekend. Even though no gifts were necessary, we got a LOT of diapers and wipes! My cousins Danielle & Megan and Aunt Jan made the trip to see us. See a family resemblence?... The sprinkle had different stations where we could do activities - Mary Kay satin hands, paint our nails, decorate bibs & socks and even put on fake Henna tattoos!

It is good luck to put a Henna tattoo on a pregnant belly and after I got mine, Haley wanted one on her belly too! She kept calling it her "too-tah" :)

Washing all of Haley's baby clothes... can you believe she is holding the outfit she came home from the hospital in?!

Baby update

My due date for Baby is December 18th so on Saturday I will be 37 weeks along! We are busy trying to get baby stuff out of the basement, clean tiny clothes and just prepare ourselves for the work ahead. Haley is a great big sister already! She has moved into her "big girl room", the extra bedroom we had, and is now sleeping in a toddler bed. She always includes Baby in her bedtime prayers and kisses my stomach. :)

Happy Halloween!

Happy birthday Momo! Haley wanted to keep her costume on after Trick or Treating at my office for my mom's birthday dinner :) Haley as Minnie Mouse and I am on her favorite episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "Jungle Safari" (There aren't a lot of outfits that are easy to wear at work while 7 months pregnant!)

Haley and her cousins Jack and Anna. Haley & Anna got to go trick or treating with both Dad's and Grandpa's while riding in a wagon. They were well taken care of for their trip around the block! Little Jack fell asleep almost instantly after putting on his costume - so precious!

Gymnastics

Haley took "Gym Tots" for the last two months, every Friday for 45 minutes, and LOVED it! They usually spent about half the time in the gym at the Rec center and then the second half on the Superbus (a hollowed out school bus filled with ropes, bars, nets, slides, etc). "Stretch your arms to the sky, tuck and Roll!" Haley loves somersaults and it so good at them already!

October Stuff

September

Beautiful sunset at Garden of the Gods at the wedding of our friends Liz & Brian... A little hard to see the tops of our heads, but here we are (I'm at 26 weeks)...

The grandkids that are coming soon! Laura is 33 weeks & I'm 26 weeks here - we thought it was hilarious that we bought the same maternity shirt & figured it was a great photo op!

Haley's first trip to the dentist! She did so well - she let them brush her teeth just like they did with Daddy, flossed, and even let them put a tiny bit of flouride on! The dentist counted her teeth and we found out that she still doesn't have her 2nd set of molars. That's ok but he told us that she may not start losing her baby teeth when all her little friends will be losing theirs.

I had a class & my parents were out of town so my Aunt Janice came to visit to watch Haley for 3 days. They had so much fun!
